December 11th, 2007 | 7:30 pm Baisley Powell Elebash Recital Hall The CUNY Graduate Center 365 5th Avenue, NYC Fantasia-Estudio | Amparo Fabra Ilya Kazantsev, piano Fantasia-Estudio is a study of symmetrical chords and harmonies that build tension. It is a "Fantasia" for the piano in which the performer faces the challenges of different layers of counterpoint mixed with irregular pulses of rhythm. Amparo Fabra, born in Valencia Spain, holds degrees in Piano, Musicology and Composition from the "Joaquin Rodrigo" Conservatory of Valencia. Last year she completed a M.M. in Composition at Brooklyn College-CUNY, New York, under the supervision of Prof. Tania León and is currently working on her PhD at the Graduate Center. She is a Professor in Music and Performing Arts and part of the Spanish Board of Education, specializing in Music History. return to PAST CONCERTS
